ABA Therapy rooted in connection and compassion
ABA Therapy Initial Assessment
Service Description
An ABA assessment conducted by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) involves understanding a child’s strengths, challenges, communication abilities, learning style, and behavior patterns to develop an individualized therapy plan. The process typically begins with a parent or caregiver interview to gather developmental history, daily concerns, routines, and goals for the child. The BCBA then observes the child during play, interaction, and structured or natural activities to assess communication, social, play, learning, and daily living skills. If challenging behaviors are present, the assessment also focuses on identifying possible triggers and understanding the purpose or why of those behaviors. Based on the information collected, the BCBA analyzes the data, develops personalized treatment goals, and recommends appropriate intervention strategies and therapy intensity. The assessment concludes with a feedback session where findings and recommendations are discussed collaboratively with the family.
